Perseus killing the Orc to save Andromeda; A witch; A dragon. Starting from the main subject, programmatically the seven days of the world's creation, Tasso expands to dealing with a very large number of topics, including classical mythology and Medieval lore, as was common in 16th century art and literature. Now, in illustrating Tasso's poem, the Magic Trio took as many liberties as Renaissance authors did while reworking themes from past traditions. It takes a Renaissance attitude to know one.
