All of Nature in a pocket

The "almost pocket" edition (14 x 20 x 5 cm, 590 pages) has been published, at last! The most important collection of plates illustrating a collection of specimens belongs to the 18th century, but still shares many features with the first, i.e. Renaissance "rooms of marvels," both as to the subject matters and to the style of their representation. From flies to elephants, a full immersion into the charm of Nature. That does not mean to have a naive concept of it, as "monsters," e.g. Siamese twins, will remind us.
